After the successfull launch of metro bus in lahore which is
now almost 4 years old, Punjab Government has now decided to launch first metro
train of pakistan in lahore.
Each Metro Line Train will be composed of 5
wagons(SECTIONS), and each section will have a capacity of around 200 seats in
it. These trains are macufactured by a chinese company named China's Norinco. The body of the train will
be made of stainless steel and will be illuminated by led lighting.
This orange line metro train is pakistan's first modern
rail-based rapid transport system.The
trains will be fully automated and driverless
which make it the second most
rapid transit line after Lahore Metro Bus which was build in 2013.
The track of this project are made following china's
National Standards and will be laid upon a
concrete track bed with crossovers located between every 2 to 3
stations.
The 27-kilometer metro train is expected to cost $1.6 billion,
out of which $300 million would come from the Federal Government of Pakistan,
the rest is financed through loan's by the Government of China.The project is
composed of 26 stations in which anarkali and central stations will be underground while the remaining
24 will be elevated.
This Orange line Project is expected to handle 30,000
passengers per hour and 250,000 passengers per day. Keeping in view the traffic
system in lahore travelling has always been a problem for lahoris specially for
those people who don't have means of transport of thier own. And this project
will make a huge difference in the transport system of lahore. The route which
usually takes around 2 to 5 hours to travel will now take only around 45 minutes to complete its one route
as this train will move with a speed of
80 KM/ hour and People will be able to travel more convineantly and easily to
their destinations in a short period of
time.
The Orange Line Train will operate 18 hours a day from 5:30
AM to 11:30 PM.
